Ani Shlishi second hand store

Allenby Str. 84

Price range: 5 to 30 shekels

Ani Shlishi is a non-profit second hand store in Tel Aviv that reverses all the earnings to help the Israeli young people at risk. You are welcome either to donate your clothes (clean and without damages) or to donate money directly: the clothes donations can be made anytime in the opening hours in Tel Aviv or Rishon Lezion stores and the money donations conditions can be found online on https://www.anishlishi.org/supportthecause .

I really like the Ani Shlishi second hand store not only because of the concept but also because of the clothes and accessories choice and the prices that they offer. You never know what you will find inside this store even if you go there every second day.

The assortment changes very quickly as the second hand store is almost always full with clients.

From the brands perspective, you can find anything but mostly the high street brands like Zara, H&M, Mango and Castro (basically, all that people easily donate to a second hand store without trying to re-sell it to somebody else).

Every time that I went to Ani Shlishi in Tel Aviv I was super lucky to find accessories! With an average price of 15 shekels that’s a paradise to anyone who doesn’t want to spend big money buying them new.

Definitely pay a visit to Ani Shlishi, it is totally worth it! Don’t expect though to find real vintage clothes or semi-luxury or luxury brands. Go there with an open heart, donate some of the clothes you don’t wear and find something nice to add to your closet in exchange.

Here are, in my opinion, strong and weak points of Ani Shlishi second hand store in Tel Aviv:

Strong:

- Great prices

- Quick change of assortment

Good choice of accessories (including second hand bags, shoes and jewelry)

- As most of the brands are high street ones, it’s easy to orient with teh sizes

Weak:

- Lack of unusual and special pieces

- Only 1 fitting room (this said, they have a mirror inside the fitting room which is great to comfortably try clothes on)

Special point: every time I went to this second hand store I had nice talks with other clients :) Don’t know if it’s about the place but people are so different (different ages, men and women, etc.) that it becomes a special social experience to go there. Love it.

HaBigudit second hand store in Tel Aviv

King George Str. 35

Price range: 10 to approx. 150-200 shekels

HaBigudit is another non-profit second hand clothing store in Tel Aviv that works based on people’s donations and reverses its benefits to different educational and soclial services organizations via WIZO (The Women International Zionist Organisation with 250 000 memebers around the world).

HaBigudit is a similar to Ani Shlishi second hand store but 3 times bigger in size with 2 big size fitting rooms.

You will find all types of products there - not only clothes - but also accessories, kitchenware and decorative items.

The clothes brands are, mainly, high street ones: Zara, H&M, Castro, Yanga, Mango etc. But it happens that sometimes you catch Tommy Hilfiger or Gucci pieces (you have to be very lucky for this).

I would recommend HaBigudit second hand store to anyone as it’s an interesting part of a second hand and vintage shopping hunt in Tel Aviv.

Plan some time and go there to play with style and fashion and, hopefully, go out with an unexpected find!

The budget friendly pricing helps to allow the flow of imagination and compose full outfits without too much of a money worry.

Here are, as usual, strong and weak points of HaBigudit second hand clothing store:

Strong:

- Large assortment

- Items for women, men and children

- Additional items such as accessories and shoes but also kitchenware and decorative items

- Super budget-friendly prices

- Very comfortable try-on space

Weak:

- Absence or rarity of truly vintage pieces

- The location of the store (not visible from the street). It’s almost impossible to guess that there is a store if you don’t know it already.

Itay Gonen vintage store in Tel Aviv

King George 21

Price range: from 50 to approx. 350 shekels

Well, the Itay Gonen vintage store in Tel Aviv is one of the best truly vintage clothing stores in the city. Itay chooses his assortment wisely and fills the tiny store space on kind George with unexpected quality pieces in an average local price range.

This second hand clothing store offers items for women and men plus accessories. Good quality clothes from different brands come from the 60ies, 70ies, 80ies and 90ies. The choice changes depending on the stock deliveries so it’s always fluid.

This lovely second hand store has a medium to high price range comparing to other stores in Tel Aviv. The prices are similar to Flashback or Betty In Vintage Land second hand vintage stores but more expensive then Ani Shlishi, HaBigudit, Aderet or Buy Kilo second hand stores.

It’s truly difficult though to compare the vintage second hand offer because of the uniqueness of each piece and the store concept (obviously, non-profits are able to propose super competitive prices).

Here is a recap of the strong and weak points of Itay Gonen vintage store in Tel Aviv:

Strong:

- Curated assortment

- Possible to find rare and unique pieces of clothing

Weak:

- Small space that can get quickly full of people and difficult to navigate

- Not very comfortable for trying on for the same reason

Shuk HaPishpeshim

The Yaffo Flea Market

Price range: from 15 to approx. 350 shekels

The Yaffo Flea Market deserves a full book dedicated to all of the treasures hidden inside of its shadowy hallways. The visitors can find everything here: clothes, accessories, jewelry (oh yes, it’s a paradise for all jewelry lowers!), decorative items, carpets, kitchenware, perfumes, furniture, old vinyls, food and drinks, and of course, Golda icecreams (one of the best in the city).

The Flea Market is a place to buy and a place of social and cultural discovery of Tel Aviv. You can learn a lot by discussing with the salespeople and bargaining to get the best price for your find (it’s also possible to write a full book about the Tel Avivian negotiation rules but that’s for another time!).

The Yaffo Flea Market proposes second hand clothes, especially denim with quite a large assortment. It is difficult to point a special style to all of the second hand clothes sold as each seller has a different offering but, for sure, you can find: Indian styled clothes, Texan-style denim or leather jackets and Yemenite jewelry.

I would not recommend the Yaffo Flea Market as a purely vintage shopping dedicated place but it is totally the place to go as part of your general vintage and second hand tour of Tel Aviv.

And please... don’t forget to bargain! It is part of the full experience.

Here are, in my opinion, the strong and the weak points of the Yaffo Flea Market:

Strong:

- Large choice of products

- Covered roof (saves from the heat and the sun)

- A full cultural discovery experince including shopping, food, music, a mix of local people and visitors

Weak:

- The prices are good after negotiation only. People who don’t feel comfortable gargaining will pay a much higher price

- Not very comfortable to try on

- Can be crowded in the middle of the touristic season.

Love Me Two Times

Pinkas Ben Ya’ir Str. 8

Price range: from 150 to 3000 shekels

Love Me Two Times is the only luxury second hand store in Tel Aviv. The boutique proposes high end second hand pieces with a large assortment by type of items (dresses, skirts, pants, shirts etc.). You can find all the worldwide famous luxury brands here: Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, YSL, Chloé, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Prada etc.

This luxury second hand store offers not only a large choice of high end pieces but also the quality of the second hand, means the clothes don’t have any visible defaults.

Love Me Two Times is, for sure, a must second hand store to go to when you’re touring the city in search of vintage finds!

Here is a recap of the strong and weak points of Love Me Two Times second hand store:

Strong:

- Large assortment

- Worlwide famous brands

- Original clothes with an amazing second hand quality

- Accessories (bags, shoes, scarves, purses, jewelry, etc.)

- Pleasant try-on space

- Great place in Yaffo near the flea market and in the heart of the Greek Market

Weak:

- No men’s wear

- The pricing is high (well, that’s the point, the boutique sells high end brands, so, yes, if you are not ready to spend something like 350 shekels on a shirt it’s not the place where you should go vintage-shopping).
